THE DOMINANT CULTURAL / SOCIAL ISSUE FEATURED IN MY WORK IS:        

Don’t judge book by its cover. Being a hero doesn’t mean that the hero will always do the right thing. Sometimes it’s the villain who is doing the right thing.

LOGLINE:

A kidnapped rabbit princess that doesn’t want to be rescued.

SYNOPSIS:

A rabbit princess is tired of the royal life. One day she wandered around the town and she got kidnapped by an evil cat. Upon hearing this, the rabbit king offered a reward for whoever can rescue the princess from the evil cat, that person can marry the princess. However the princess heard about this too and she doesn’t want to be rescued. The prince from the pig kingdom heard about the news too and decided to rescue the princess, but this just add up to another reason as to why the rabbit princess doesn’t want to be rescued. So what will be the fate of the Rabbit princess?

CHARACTER BIO OF KEY CHARACTER

George is the main character of the story, he is the prince of the pig kingdom and he is a very ugly and very clumsy pig. He didn’t do much to contribute to his kingdom and all he does is eat and sleep every day. One day he heard of the kidnapping news from the rabbit kingdom. He decided that he wants the rabbit princess for himself and he set out on a journey with his pig army to rescue the princess.

REFLECTION PAPER

I learnt that in order to write a good story I would have to follow a certain rules and adhere to the story structure. In order to make a good story I would have to create a good and nice title first, that’s to catch the attention of the audience. Then I would have to create a character that stands out from each other and not just a normal and boring average person. I would also need to have a very good storyline and clear settings to let the audience understand what is going on.

TREATMENT / STORYLINE & STORYBOARD

There lived a young beautiful rabbit princess in the rabbit Kingdom. Her name is Cindy. She lived like what everyone always dreamt of, living a royal and wealthy life. However despite all the wealth she had, she just had one thing that she couldn’t get from her parents. That’s freedom. She is kept at the castle and is forbidden to go out from the castle.

One day she decided to sneak out from the castle, she asked Lucas the porcupine, one of her subordinate to accompany her, even though with many objections from Lucas, he decided to accompany her anyway. Cindy then wandered around the town and look at things that she has never seen before. Little did she know, one of the bandit chief, Jason the evil cat, have heard about the princess sneaking out from the castle. Jason then found the princess and sees that this is a good opportunity for him to be rich. He then ordered his men to kidnap the princess. Upon seeing this and powerless to do anything, Lucas hurried back to the castle and informed the king.

The king then announced that for whoever can rescue the princess, will be able to marry the princess. The news spread to the entire rabbit kingdom and to the neighboring kingdom. George, the clumsy pig prince from the pig kingdom heard about the news. He decided to rescue the princess and claim the princess for himself.

George went to the evil Cat hideout; he brought an army with him. Upon arriving at the hideout, he discovered that Jason was already prepared for the attack and a big massacre begins. Jason’s bandit’s army outnumbered and defeated George’s army, George is a clumsy pig prince who didn’t know any fighting skills and can’t even protect himself. Jason easily defeated him. Upon seeing this, Princess Cindy is impressed with Jason’s strength and felt in love with him. She told George that she doesn’t need a weak and clumsy princess to rescue her. Cindy decided to stay and marry Jason while George goes back to his pig kingdom empty handed.

SCRIPT (5min or 5pages)

ACT 1 (SETUP)

SCENE 1: Interior inside castle– Princess castle – Day

Cindy and Lucas is in the princess room of the castle. Discussing about Cindy’s escape from the castle.

                    NARRATOR

It’s a beautiful day in the rabbit Kingdom. Cindy is the princess of the rabbit kingdom and she has been stuck in the castle for her entire life. She decided that today would be the day where she changed her life and went out from the castle. She discussed her plan to sneak out from the castle with Lucas, her trustworthy servant.

Cindy

Lucas, I’ve decided that today I want to see more of the world outside the castle. I need you to accompany me.

Lucas

That’s ridiculous, the king would never allow this!

Cindy

That’s why I need you to go with me, I know you are my most trusted servant and you will help me sneak out from the castle.

Lucas

Well… its dangerous and I don’t think you will be safe outside without an army.

Cindy

Dang Lucas, if you don’t want to accompany me, I will go by myself.

Lucas

Huff…. As you wish my princess, I will accompany you.

Lucas and Cindy then proceed to the castle gate and went out from the castle.

SCENE 2 : Exterior – Princess castle – Day

Cindy and lucas are now outside the castle. They wandered around the town. Little did they know that Jason the evil cat has been stalking them.

Cindy

Ohh wow, Lucas there are so many things out there that I have never seen before.

Lucas

Princess, we have to hurry, I have a feeling that someone has been watching us from afar.

Cindy

Oh stop it, who would be stalking us?

Just when Cindy said that sentence, Jason knocked Lucas unconscious and kidnapped Cindy with his band of bandits. When Lucas regains his consciousness, he quickly rushed back to the castle and informed the king.

Scene 3 Interior – Castle – Day

Upon hearing this, the king informed the whole incident to the whole rabbit kingdom and offered the rights to marry the princess for anyone who rescued the princess. This news was also heard by the neighboring kingdom, George is the prince from the pig kingdom and he heard about the news too.

George

MEN! Ready the supplies and weapons! We are going to rescue the rabbit princess! She is mine!

A while later, George and his army embark on a journey to rescue the rabbit princess.

ACT 2   (Confrontation)

SCENE 4: Exterior– Outside Evil cat hideout -Day

George and his army arrived outside Jason’s hideout, to his surprise, Jason has been expecting them and he had already prepared an army of bandits with him.

George

Let go of the princess now! And your life may be spared!

Jason

HAHAHAHAHAHA, Stupid pig prince, how about you come here and get her yourself?

George

Men! Shows no mercy! kill them all and rescue the princess !

A fierce fight broke out and somehow the bandits have the upper hand. The army of the pig kingdom isn’t well trained in combat and they are easily defeated by the army of bandits who have more experience in combats.  Upon defeating the whole army of the pig prince, Jason confronts George in one on one duel.

Jason

HAHAHAHAHA, is this the standard of the pig kingdom royal army? My bands of bandits could easily overtake your kingdom! Now that’s left standing are you! Fat pig, come fight me!

Jason easily defeated George who is so clumsy that he can’t even hold his sword straight.

George

I yield! I yield, please spare my life!

Jason

Are you kidding me? I was just warming up. Whatever, don’t worry, I won’t kill anyone that’s as weak as you, and it’s really not worth my time. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Go back to your pig kingdom and tell everyone that Jason the evil cat has defeated you! Hahahaha.

George

I am sorry Princess Cindy, I have failed you.

Upon hearing this, Princess Cindy didn’t felt pity or sorry for George at all but somehow she was relieved.

Cindy

It’s okay, please go back to your kingdom and tell my father that I won’t be coming back.

Prince George then went back to his kingdom empty handed.

Act 3 ( Resolution )

SCENE 5 : Exterior– Outside Evil cat hideout – night

After the whole ordeal, Jason asked Cindy about why Cindy doesn’t want to come back.

Jason

My lady, why did you say that to him just now? Aren’t you scared that we are bunch of bandits that’s kidnapping you for ransom money? Or the fact that we could sell you to be a slave for another kingdom?

Cindy

I am more scared to be locked up in the castle for my entire life; I have never seen the outside world and now I have seen enough. I have decided not to return and stay outside the castle forever. Besides I don’t think that I would marry a weak and clumsy pig prince and continue to live a boring live inside the castle.

Jason

I see, so… what’s keeping you from going back to the castle?

Cindy

You.

The joy of adventure and rebellion. You thwarted a royal army and defeated that clumsy pig prince without any effort at all. I don’t think I could find any other strong person such as you in the royal family. I want you to take me with you forever.

The crowd of bandits cheered for Jason and Cindy. Cindy has decided to stay with Jason and they lived a happy life together.

The End

Class exercise

Logline : Two korean woman quarrelling and fighting over some minor problem.

Korean Lady names : lady in white (Koh Chew) Lady in yellow (Chew Wah)

Executive Summary : Koh Chew is waiting impatiently in her car. Chew Wah walk happily towards the tuition centre to pick up her brother, suddenly Koh Chew came out of her car and shouted Chew Wah name, Chew Wah turn back and look annoyed when she saw the person that called her is Koh Chew.
Koh Chew & Chew Wah started an argument, the argument gets bigger and physical actions begin to show. Koh Chew pushed Chew Wah on to the ground, Chew Wah felt her dignity was being abused therefore, she pushed Koh Chew back, this brought them to a big fight rolling on the floor, using handbags to hit one another that causes bruises and cuts on their faces.
Chew Wah's Brother and Koh Chew's sister came out of the tuition centre they saw what's happening. Chew Wah's brother immediately went in between Chew Wah & Koh Chew to stop the fight.

After breaking the fight both Chew Wah and Koh Chew seems breathless after the horrendous fight and a couple of stares between them. Koh Chew and her sister went to the car abruptly and drive the car away. after knowing what an embarrassment Chew Wah & Koh Chew had cause, Chew Wah quickly walked off from the scene.

Act 1 SET UP - Koh Chew waiting for Chew Wah in her car so that she could confront her.

Turning point 1 - Koh Chew stop Chew Wah from picking up her brother peacefully.

Act 2 CONFRONTATION - Koh Chew started an argument with Chew Wah

Turning Point - Chew Wah walked away but Koh Chew pull her back and push her, that's how the fight gets bigger.

Act 3 RESOLUTION - Chew Wah's brother and Koh Chew's sister stop Chew Wah & Koh Chew from the fight.

Week 6

Today we learned that character traits play an important role. We were shown some clips that have characters with unique character traits, like the bugs bunny clip and tom and jerry. Each character have their own character traits and make them stands out much from other character. For example like bugs bunny, he have a cunning and smart personality, he can do anything to outsmart and foil the plan of Mud the Coyote.  Then for Jerry, he used the advantage of his new friend to outsmart and fool Tom.

Bio Chase

Genre : Action & Sci-Fi

The story takes place in Alpha city ,it's a normal town just like any other. However deep down it's normal looks and generic looking buildings, the town is actually a headquarter for a secret government science project. Kou is your average teenager , a big fan of wrestling and MMA, living in that town. His father is a scientist that apparently worked for the government. He doesn't really care about this but sooner he will discover that there's more than meets the eye. Kou have a girlfriend named Michia, she always looked angry at Kou as Kou doesn't really pay much attention to her.

One day , Michia came to Kou's house. She looked pale and sick. Kou came to her and ask about her condition but she can't remember anything about what happened and how she ended up at his house. Michia started to cough really heavily. before she knew, suddenly a sharp tentacle sprouted from her arm. her whole body suddenly were wrapped around the tentacles and then it formed an armor. Michia just as puzzled as Kou asked each other at what just happened. It appears that she has just transformed into a mutant. He decided to let Michia stay at his house for the moment and try to get over the strange event.

The next morning Kou got a mysterious letter, the letter informed him that his girlfriend have been selected as one of the few "lucky" person to participate in an underground contest. A mysterious contest that he have no other option but to join because if he wants his girlfriend be cured, he have to participate. Having no clue about the contest and still dazed from the events , Kou and Michia furiously embark on the journey to the contest.

The contest turned out to be a large tournament of mutant vs mutant. Kou and Michia endure a hard ordeal and went through many fights with the mutants and finally emerged as the champion.He then finally confront the man who made her girlfriend became a mutant and the person who held this contest.

It was Kou's father.

He explained that he is "bored" at his job and the government ordered him to create the strongest mutant virus for a biological weapon. he then held this contest to determine which of his virus is really the strongest.

Kou and Michia proceed to end his plan and put a stop to all the madness. They fought the strongest mutant that his father has created and then after several struggles they finally won and killed Kou's father.

After all the struggles he have been through, Michia still cant be cured and she have to live through the ordeal of being a mutant for her entire life.However Kou promised that he will accept Michia as who she is and continue to move on with their life. They then went back to their daily life normally.

WEEK 5 CLASS EXERCISE

1 Sentence story idea : A picture that almost ruin your life.

1 Sentence plot summary : Homer get a surprise when Bart took a picture of him dancing with one of the strippers.

Synopsis : Homer was celebrating a bachelor party. One of his friend invited a stripper and dance with him. Little did he know that Bart took a picture of it and spread it to the rest of the school. From the school it then spread to almost the whole town. Homer's wife discovered about it and then went mad on Homer. Homer then tried his best to solve the problem and the family is back the way it is.

3 act structure :

1 : Homer is celebrating a bachelor party. One of his friend invited a stripper and danced with homer, little did he know , Bart, his son took a picture of it and spread it to the whole town.

2  Homer's wife discovered the picture and went mad on homer. He was kicked out of the house.

3. Homer tried his best to fix everything and apologize to his wife by using his own method then everything went well and back to the way it is.

A psychiatrist who faced problems when people started moving to his house.

1 Sentence Plot Summary :

Frasier is working as usual in his psychiatrist show until he found out that his household is going to have more members.

Synopsis:

A short drama series about a man who worked in a psychiatrist show. He was living in his average life until his father and more people moved in to his house. He then faced many problems and chains of events that will make his life more interesting.


Character Bio : 

Frasier Crane is a man in his mid 40s who work as a psychiatrist in his radio show. He is living in his apartment alone.

3 act structure : 

Act 1 : Frasier is just doing his work as usual

Act 2 : Suddenly he found out that his household is going to have more members and he is going through a hard time.

Act 3 : Everything goes smoothly in the end and Frasier is about to begin a new life with the new household members.

He always dreamed of going on a vacation but the problem is that he doesn’t have  a passport. One day, a letter arrived at his house. Turned out that Mr Bean has won a lottery and he is going on a vacation of his lifetime.
Action	The Journey to be the No.1 in the world.	Hwoarang is a martial artist originated from Korea. He is on a journey to prove to his family and his whole clan of martial artist that he is the strongest in the world. One day a world tournament called “Tekken” was held at his hometown. Hwoarang then is on a journey to be the No.1 fighter of the world but it wouldn’t be as easy as he thought.
Crime	An impossible murder	Mr.Lim the richest man in the world invited his family to a great party to celebrate his victory against his rival company. However everything goes wrong when his son found out that he is murdered at the toilet.Little did everyone know that the murder is just a scheme to a whole larger turnabout.

(MTV) IT'S MY LIFE - BON JOVI : 

1 Sentence summary :  A guy rushing for a party. 

3 Act structure : Act 1 : a girl called a guy to tell him that he is late for party , Act 2 : he rushes to the party even though there are many obstacles, he used shortcuts and any stuffs he can find to make his journey faster, Act 3 : he made it to the party.

Snowman :

1 sentence summary : A toy snowman is trying to get an attention from a toy sexy woman.
3 Act structure : Act 1 : the snowman spotted a sexy looking toy woman and trying to get her attention but the problem is that he is stuck in his own toy container Act 2 : he tried his best to get out from the container. Act 3 : He managed to break out from his container but somehow he is trapped again.

                                                                         Fantasia :
1 Sentence summary : a flamingo that tries to be different from the others.
3 act structure : Act 1 : there are bunch of flamingos dancing but there's one that stood out. Act 2: the odd flamingo tried to get the other flamingos to dance according to his own pace. Act 3 : everything goes as he planned.

3 act structure : Act 1 : A group of birds was just hanging out until a big bird came Act 2 : the Big bird was hated by the rest of the group but then the Big bird pulled a prank on them. Act 3 : The group of birds got pranked by the Big Bird.

1 SENTENCE PITCH : The teaser or the short summary of the movie/show in one sentence.

SYNOPSIS : A brief summary of the plot or story.

CHARACTER BIBLE : A more personal data or information of many characters. 

3 ACT STRUCTURE : 3 parts of scene starting from Set-up,confrontation and resolution.

STORYLINE : The set of scripts or writings of the story from the start, climax to finish.

TREATMENT :  A draft of the movie/show. 

PLOTS / SUBPLOTS : The main storyline or the main focus of the story.

SCENE BREAKDOWN : A list of scenes.

BEATS : a unit of a scene in a story where there is an exchange between the characters and the action/ reaction/revelation advances the story and shape the turning of that scene.

SCRIPT : The paperworks of the story usually contains dialogues and draft of the story.

HOOK / TEASER : A short preview of the story usually to make the audience feel curious or excited.

MOTIVE : A reason for the plot of the story.
